Luke Scott Is No Regular Nut, He's a Birther Nut With a Gun!

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Luke Scott loves hunting. He loves Ted Nugent. And most of all, he loves propagating the positively ridiculous idea that Barack Obama was not born in this country. Birther alert! Birther alert! Heck, Luke must feel right at home in Camden Yards when half the ballpark is taken up by those proud-to-be-ignorant-country-boys from Western Maryland/Pennsyltucky. Yee-haw, here's a snippet from an interview Scott gave to a very close friend of WoW, Yahoo! Sports' own Dave Brown:

That's my belief. I was born here. If someone accuses me of not being born here, I can go -- within 10 minutes -- to my filing cabinet and I can pick up my real birth certificate and I can go, "See? Look! Here it is. Here it is." The man has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn't answer anything. And why? Because he's hiding something.

You know what? People who have bad intentions, people that are deceivers or are not of honor and integrity -- that's how they act. I've seen it in every -- it doesn't matter what level. It can be in politics, it can be in business, it can be in sports, it can be in the construction field. Doesn't matter. It's all the same attitude. It's the same thing.

Go read the interview. There's more, there's so very much more and it's all a gem. We owe David "Answer Dave" Brown a whole truck full of Coca-Cola for conducting what might be the nuttiest Answer Man interviews in the history of forever. Luke Scott is a LUNATIC and I think he should start his own podcast. I WOULD LISTEN EVERY DAY.

I loved this interview. I like Luke Scott a lot more now. Okay, so he has some crazy political beliefs. So do I. Mine are correct, but who cares? I don't look to baseball players for their politics. This was simply an incredibly entertaining interview. I wish more athletes would talk about their political beliefs.

I also like how Scott called coyotes "very wily" (duh!) and how soldiers "gave their life, their blood was spilled, so I had an opportunity to chase a dream and play baseball for a living." The American Revolution was fought so one day Luke Scott could OPS+ 142 (hey, that's good!) in 2010.

My favorite part was definitely this, though:

Obama, he doesn't represent that. He represents, "Hey, everyone. Give me votes and I'll give you stuff." And there's even people on TV who [are asked], 'Hey, who you voting for?'"

I'm voting for Obama."

"Why?"

"So I can get more free stuff."

That's why I voted for him! So far it hasn't really worked out, though. I guess unemployment's about to be extended, but I have a job now.

Podcast: New World Order with Baseball Player Luke Scott

Baseball players - almost as dumb as hockey players since time immemorial.

HIs wikipedia says he's the first openly gay man in baseball. Someone really dislikes Luke Scott.

Baseball players: They're just like you and me! Or, in this case, the whackjob down the street that the neighbors talk about in hushed tones.

FIRST OUT OF THE GATE YOU SHOULD KNOW THAT BASEBALL BANGERS LIKE ME OR LUKE DONT HAVE TIME FOR PAWCASTS OR WHATEVER BECAUSE WE ARE BUSY BEING STAND UP MEN AND BASEBALL HEROES SO YOU CAN PUT THE LEAVES FOR YOUR PIPE DREAM BACK IN THE CANISTER

I WONT BORE THIS GROUP WITH STORIES OF HUNTING GOLD BUT ALSO I AGREE WITH MR LUKE SCOTT ON ANOTHER KEY ISSUE FROM THAT LINKED DISCUSSION AND THAT IS THE FACT THAT LANCE BERKMAN IS A REAL TRUE BLUE AMERICAN WITH RED BLOOD RUNNING THROUGH HIS BLUE VEINS SEE RED WHITE AND BLUE SYMBOLISM EVEN IN THE OFFSEASON THIS WORDSMITH HONES HIS CRAFT

ANYWAY YEAH BERKMAN IS JUST THE KIND OF GUY THAT YOU WOULD TAKE WITH YOU INTO BATTLE OR INTO THE BRUSH EITHER WAY YOURE COMING OUT ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LAW

SO THATS IT FOR NOW AND IF YOU THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GET CAUGHT UP IN THE FLAME WAR THAT IS ABOUT TO ENSUE WELL THEN YOU'RE CRAZIER THAN A COYOTE WITH A HOUSECAT IN ITS MOUTH

Politics aside, he has a good point about venison.

"However, on my shield and family code of arms is the red stag." I thought it's coat of arms.

The Chipper comment is an early Christmas gift.

@UU

No, the kiosk at the mall clearly says "Code of Arms."

WHY would Yahoo turn off the comments on that interview? It's robbing us of our right to moronic discourse, guaranteed to us by the 27th amendment.

Much like the Nuge himself, our Founding Fathers were draft dodgers.

I look at Ted Nugent and ... he's an American. He has the core beliefs of what it means to be an American in his heart. He lives by those beliefs and those principles. It's the same beliefs that our forefathers, who fought for our country, have.

If "wang dang sweet poontang" also applies to ones slaves, then Luke Scott is correct.

Saying Obama is not American is about as stupid as saying Bush new about 911 ahead of time. There are idiots on the fringes on both sides of the political spectrum.

No, those idiots are all on the same side of the political spectrum, trust me.

Huh?
